Winter Skincare :: Oil Baths
I'm admittedly a bath person. They really help me to wind down and warm up in the dead of winter. The problem with baths is that they can be especially drying on your skin.
Before this year I would be obsessed with buying body butters and rich lotions to slather on after taking a bath...failure to do so would lead to very dry and itchy skin.
I was browsing through the beauty section at Healthy Planet and came across all the different types of beauty oils. After a bit of deliberation, I settled on a bottle of Now Solutions Sweet Almond Oil (around $11) and a little bottle of Now Lavender EO (around $6, I think) and I've never looked back.
I add about 2 tablespoons (I really don't measure, I just squirt it in) of the almond oil, and a few drops of the Lavender EO. I find that the Lavender might not be necessary for everyone, but I just love the scent and find it very calming in the evening.
When you get out, your body has a thin oily film left over the surface of your body (which i absoluetly love...but I'ts probably an aquired taste). In my experience with the almond oil in particular it actually soaks in quite quickly and it leaves my skin incredibly soft and deeply moisturized. I especially love this because I can completely skip the body lotion...a step that I hate doing but would never skip.
With daily bathing (yes, daily) my bottle has lasted me about two moths and I still have a quarter of the bottle left. This has been such a surprisingly enjoyable and cost effective discovery. I had considered splurging on some bath melts at LUSH, but at $6+ a pop, that wouldn't have been a permanent solution to my dry skin woes.
On top of that, I save because I do not need to buy body lotion either (and I go through that stuff like crazy!). Even after a shower, I will rub this all over my body before I get out of the shower in place of moisturizing with lotion. Using oils also gives me the piece of mind that I am not coating my entire body with any added chemicals or toxins that can be found in many body lotions.
Have you ever tried an oil bath? Does it sound like something you would like, or does the thought of being left a bit oily leave you slightly grossed out?
Untill next time,
xoxo Courtney

Happy Valentines Day...We're Pregnant!
Brad and I are so excited to announce our first pregnancy! We really didn't waste any time, did we? lol
Today I am 7 weeks and 3 days pregnant and we have only told immediate family and close friends.
Due to the fact that I am still very early in this prgnancy we are waiting to tell the rest of our family and friends for a few more weeks.
Updates to come :)
